PRESENTATION:
Gianluca Parisse graduated in Chemical and Materials Science and Technology at the University of L'Aquila.
In 2021, he joined Prof. Leonardo Guidoni's group and earned his M. Sc. degree with honors in Chemical Sciences from the same university in March 2022 with a thesis titled “Protein dynamics in mixtures of water and deep eutectic solvents (DES)”.
Following his graduation, he won a 5-month research fellowship in the same group to investigate the molecular interactions between Deep Eutectic Solvents and proteins, in collaboration with the CNR of Bari.
In November 2022, he started his PhD in the Computational Chemistry team within the CBBC group under the supervision of Prof. Leonardo Guidoni and Dr. Daniele Narzi, focusing on PSII models.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
- Simulations of molecular and macromolecular systems by means of classical mechanics-based methods.
- Investigation of protein/membrane interactions and membrane properties through classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.
- Use of QM and QM/MM calculations to elucidate catalytic mechanisms in enzymes.
- Study of the molecular determinants behind protein and enzyme stability, activity, and their implications for protein crystallization in hydrated Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES).
